Plastic packaging

Why?...

We thank you for your patience at this crazy time in the retail industry due to Covid 19

Plastic packaging explained.

Due to Covid-19 and the worldwide lockdown, the egg industry and the retail industry in general,

has seen an increased demand for packaging. This has left the industry desperately short of raw materials.

This has resulted in the traditional pulp packaging carton within our sector being in very short supply.

We have gone from a six-week ordering window, to a 16+ week delivery period. With some of our own name product lines unavailable to order at all at present.

Our most recently placed orders have been cancelled all together until further notice.

The result for us and every egg producer, is that plastic packaging is filling the gap. One of our free-range farm partners had already made the decision to switch to using a new plastic pack before this issue.

Our plastic egg packs from Ovotherm are produced using 100% recycled post-consumer material, and remain 100% recyclable.

We understand that the general feedback on plastic use is negative. We at Fairseat Farm Eggs, intend to continue with our pulp packaging when production allows, but are happy with the plastic as a sustainable alternative. When normal supplies are available, we hope to offer our customers the choice.

The Ovotherm packaging gives plastic waste a new life. Plastic is recovered from the seas, and instead of going into landfill it is put to a positive use.

Don’t just take our word for it, scan the QR code to find out more.

In an addition, we have been forced to adjust egg prices as 'our' purchace prices have increased also.

Please check your invoices and talk to our drivers on delivery.
